Nevada Gold Mines Seeks Accountant

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking to hire an Accountant for the Long Canyon-Power Plant operations. The Accountant will prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses. Additional responsibilities include the month-end close process and tracking daily transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare basic, complex, and technical journal entries and execute month-end close process, including quarterly financial audits and control testing
  • Prepare reporting, review costs for completeness, and evaluate reasonableness of balances to research and proactively resolve errors or reconcile items
  • Review and analyze budget and forecast input/output, make recommendations as needed
  • Prepare cost variance analyses and promote cost controls and efficiency in the conduct of business
  • Prepare receivable invoices and amortization schedules as required
  • Assist with capital spend tracking and reporting
  • Establish knowledge of IFRS and NGM accounting policies, procedures, and internal control standards, and maintain compliance while performing responsibilities
  • Recognize and communicate potential issues to his/her team leader, as appropriate
  • Contribute ideas and actions towards the continuous improvement of processes within the area of influence
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining strong, collaborative partnerships with finance customers
  • Gives and encourages feedback, contributes to building a positive team culture, and puts success of team above own interests.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and safety training requirements

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field required; Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA preferred
  • Three (3) to six (6) years prior related experience preferred
  • Strong technical accounting skills, understanding of accounting concepts, and comprehension of business-related implications required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills required
  • Ability to stay organized, efficient, analytical, and to pay close attention to detail required
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work with Staff Accountants, Mine Sites, Executives, and other departments personnel/cross-functional teams required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to be self-motivated, flexible, and able to organize and respond to multiple demands and priorities required
  • Must be able to work with limited direction required
  • Prior implementation or working experience with implementation SAP Financials or OneStream applications preferred
  • Exposure to the mining industry in a mining accounting function preferred

Job Description:

Responsibilities of the Field Service Technician R4577 include In-field Repair and Replacement of:

  • Remove and Replace Pumps and Motors
  • Laser Alignment of Pumps and Motors
  • Vibration analysis preferred

Qualifications of the Field Service Technician include, but are not limited to:

Job Description Summary:

Entry Level Service Technician R4576. Demonstrate mechanical ability. Use shop tooling and power tools to dis-assemble, assemble and repair rotating equipment specifically pumps.

Job Description:

Responsibilities of the Assembly Technician include, but are not limited to:

  • Assembly of pumps units and industrial equipment
  • Interpreting assembly drawings and measurements
  • Operate power tools, and other industrial tools
  • Working OT as needed
  • Must possess good communication and organizational skills and be able to listen to others.
  • Must be professional at all times and consistent in his personal behavior.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of hand tools and basic production machinery.
  • Must be willing to undertake additional training as the company deems necessary to maintain technical understanding to new and/or improved tools or techniques.
  • Must maintain a safety awareness attitude at all times.
  • Must be willing to assist individuals from other departments in the area of but not limited to function testing, hydrostatic testing of pressure components, and alignment of rotating equipment.

Qualifications of the Assembly Technician include, but are not limited to:

  • Some experience working with rotating equipment preferred but not mandatory
  • Experience within mechanical assembly preferred, not mandatory

Photographer/Videographer Needed – No Professional Experience Necessary

We are in need of photographs/video of several properties close to Elko to use for advertising on social media. You don’t need a professional camera – an iphone would work just fine. A drone would be helpful if possible, but not necessary.

What: The job is to find the properties from the gps coordinates and take a bunch of pictures on each lot as well as video.

Pay: The pay would be $50 per property plus gas to and from.

Seasonal Invasive Plant Technician Needed

Eastern Nevada Landscape Coalition (ENLC) is a non-profit conservation organization dedicated to resoring the dynamic, diverse, resilient landscapes of the arid and semi-arid West for present and future generations through education, research, advocacy, partnerships, and the implementation of on-the-ground projects.

ENLC has been in business for over a decade and is proud to include several experts on the arid and semiarid West. Experts include full-time ecologists, botanists, range scientists and wildlife biologists with GIS and backcountry skills, all of whom envision a future where communities of plants and animals thrive in their Great Basin environment.

ENLC’s central office based in Ely, Nevada is comprised of public, priviate, and non-profit partners dedicated to the restoration of the Western ecosystems through collaborative teamwork.

Invasive Plant Technician Description

Field crews will work with an experienced BLM crew leads while assisting in inventory and management of invasive plants on public lands. Inventory duties include correctly identifying invasive plant species and infestations, surveying, recording, and managing data. Invasive plant control will predominantly consist of herbicide application utilizing backpack sprayers and motorized equipment and manual control consisting of hand pulling and hand tools.

Field work will include:

  • Responsible for driving large federally owned trucks
  • Towing trailers
  • Responsible driving on rough two track roads
  • Operating Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTVs)
  • Extensive hiking to treatment and inventory sites
  • Use of a 40 lb. backpack sprayer over rough and steep terrain
  • Occasional truck camping in the backcountry for up to 4 days at a time

Compensation:

  • $15 per hour, depending on experience (Hiring 6 crew techs)
  • $34/night per diem when camping

Ecological Monitoring Field Technician Sought

The Eastern Nevada Landscape Coalition (ENLC) is currently hiring two Pinyon-Juniper ecological monitoring field technicians to work in the US Forest Service Ely Ranger District on a three-person field crew. The technicians are responsible for monitoring plots that underwent prior Pinyon-Juniper treatments in the Grant-Quinn and White Pine Mountain Ranges near Ely, Nevada.

Duties:

Field crews will monitor approximately 53 identified high priority plots that underwent prior Pinyon-Juniper treatment in the Grant-Quinn and White Pine Ranges. This includes revisiting monitored plots and monumenting new plots. This monitoring will take place on public lands, while focusing on land within the jurisdiction of Ely Ranger District of the US Forest Service. Monitoring duties include conducting data collection using Line Point Intercept, Line Intercept, Nested Frequency, ground cover (percent cover) sampling or other similar protocols on transects and/or belt transects. Training will be performed by ENLC staff and USFS staff in Ely. The field technicians will be responsible for driving large, 4-wheel drive pickup trucks while conducting field work. Ability to hike to and around monitoring sites on steep and rocky terrain is required. The field crews must be comfortable with backcountry camping near monitoring sites for up to 8 nights.

Salary:

$16/hour (plus $38/day per diem when camping)

The Eastern Nevada Landscape Coalition, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) conservation organization dedicated to restoring the dynamic, diverse, resilient landscapes of the arid and semi-arid west is currently looking for a full-time ecologist to join our team. Work will include researching and writing grants, agreements, and contract proposals, hiring, training, and supervising seasonal field technicians, collecting, managing, interpreting and analyzing data and preparing technical reports and organize deliverables that meet acceptable standards on federal and state contracts, among other duties assigned.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in project planning and writing of federal, state and other organization bids, cooperative agreements, and grants.
  • Hire, train and supervise season technicians on a variety of projects, including vegetation monitoring and restoration, noxious weed control, endangered and sensitive species surveys and monitoring.
  • Prepare technical reports and organize deliverables that meet acceptable standards on federal and state contracts.
  • Collect, analyze, interpret and present multiple types of data (e.g., GIS shape files, vegetation monitoring data, etc.)
  • Ensure high quality data and safety standards are followed on projects.

Salary & Benefits:

Duties:

The administrative assistant is responsible for:

  • Fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, filing, and organizing
  • Processing time sheets and mail
  • Maintaining office supplies inventory
  • Preparing documents and correspondence
  • Scheduling and coordinating staff meetings
  • Working with the executive director to draft and edit fundraising letters, quarterly newsletter content and occasional grant proposals, as well as reviewing content produced by other staff
  • Drafting job descriptions as needed and co-leading new-hire orientation, as well as preparing new hire paperwork and identifying relevant material for updates to employee handbook and various policies
  • Managing a fleet of rented field vehicles, overseeing their insurance coverage, and filing any necessary claims
  • Promoting and coordinating all ENLC conferences and events providing any necessary support at said events
  • Providing flexible, efficient office support to a diverse staff

Salary:

  • $14-$16/hour, dependent on experience
  • part-time position, 15-20 hours a week

Desert Research Institute Seeking Research Immersion Internship

Research Immersion Internship: Paid environmental science opportunities.

Science at the Desert Research Institute offers real-world, immersive opportunities to help solve the environmental challenges of the future. As you consider the direction of your career, internships are a great way to discover your strengths and challenge yourself on the path to your future career.

For GBC students, the program has remote internship options. The remote options are especially good for students interested in remote sensing/GIS and data-driven decisions around water.

What it involves: The internship is a 16-week program between September 6th and December 23, 2022 that involves teams of diverse students working under a mentor.

Apply to the project on climate and remote sensing if you are interested in: Computer science, urban climate, Earth observation systems, engineering (transportation, mechanical, and/or environmental), and geographic information systems.

Apply to the project on data analysis for water services systems in northern Ghana if you are interested in: Decision-making with data, international capacity-building, maintenance and sustainability of water systems, and water infrastructure of rural areas.

The pay is $12.50/hour, and interns commit to 8 hours per week during the fall semester, up to 120 hours total.
