Foundation Sponsors Beats & Bites

(ELKO, NEV.) The Great Basin College Foundation is excited to introduce Beats & Bites, a new community-centered event taking place this summer on the GBC campus in Elko. This event will feature a rotating line up of local food trucks, music, raffle prizes, and other family-friendly activities. Scheduled for the Fourth Thursday of each month from June through September the community is invited to join us on campus from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Beats and Bites will be held on Chilton Circle. Students, staff, and the public are welcome to purchase food, picnic in the grass, and enjoy our gorgeous campus.

"Our campus is designed to be a place for the community to gather," said Hillary Baker, Associate Director of Development for the Great Basin College Foundation. "We are excited to invite everyone out to enjoy the warm summer weather, support local businesses, and utilize this beautiful space."

The first event will be held on June 27th with music by DJ Arturo Torres. There will be both sweet and savory food offerings including ice cream from Dole Twist, donuts from Nuts Under a Buck, hot dogs from Ruby Mountain Hot Dogs, and delicious Mexican snacks from Botanas El Grillo. The June event will also feature a raffle for tickets to the upcoming Silver State Stampede and other prizes.

"Each event will have a little bit of a different feel," said Baker. "In July and August we will have live music from local musicians and games targeted towards families. We can’t wait for our events and hope you’ll take the time to join us!"
