Plan Ahead, Be Prepared & Test with Confidence

Great Basin College offers students two options for taking their exams: in person and online.

Here are a few tips for making an appointment and starting your exam.

  1. 💻LOGIN to MyApps on the gbcnv.edu website
  2. WCOnline Logo CLICK on the WCOnline tile. If this is your first time using the app, you’ll be asked to register and confirm your location in the GBC community. After that, you’ll be taken to a landing page listing all of the testing centers in Elko, Ely, Pahrump, and Winnemucca, plus Zoom.
  3. CHOOSE your location, day and time for your exam. Schedule your appointment 24 hours in advance of the appointment.
  4. 📝 REMEMBER to schedule your exam early as slots fill up quickly.
  5. 📧 CHECK your email. All confirmation messages will be sent to your student email address, also found in MyApps by clicking on the tile. A reminder with the location and instructions will be sent to you within 24 hours of your appointment.

On the day of the test:

  1. 🪪 PROVIDE your ID - driver’s license/permit, current school/GBC ID, passport, Tribal ID or other government/state-issued identification.
  2. 🗒️BRING any notes, calculators, or formula sheets permitted by your instructor.
  3. ✏️ PENCILS, scratch paper, and calculators on loan are provided at all testing centers.

Ready, Set, ZOOM!

  2. 👎DO NOT USE a Chromebook, tablet/iPad or phone
  3. Zoom Logo INSTALL Zoom on your computer. If not installed, visit zoom.com to download the program and install it
  4. 🎧 TEST your microphone, speakers and camera after installing the program, found in “Settings”
  5. 🛜 CHECK your internet connection. Visit Fast.com and verify your speed. It is best to have 20 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds or higher to support Zoom and your online exam.
  6. Quiet Area FIND a quiet area to take the exam free of other people, distractions and noise, with a clean surface area, and all of your materials ready before joining the Zoom meeting.

*You will be asked to show your workspace and room to the proctor to verify no one is in the room with you. Extra monitors must be powered off for the exam.
  7. No Phone LOG IN  to MyApps and get into WebCampus/Canvas with your Multi-Factor Authenticator and open your test. You will be asked to turn off and put your phone and any other smart devices in another room by the proctor before starting the test.
