Choosing a college for your higher education needs is one of the most important decisions you will make. These students had to make a choice and they chose Great Basin College. In their words, they comment why GBC.
Jesse Gregg
"The Great Basin College Millwright program is an outstanding program that will fully prepare students for whatever they may encounter in the field. The instructors are the very definition of subject matter experts and give students the knowledge and skills to succeed in their future endeavors. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who is seeking a challenge and wants to broaden their horizons for potential career fields."
Crystal Castaneda in Winnemucca
"The readings, discussions, outlines and lectures have solidified my commitment to wanting to become a social worker. My advisor Laura Debenham has encouraged me, given me many study tricks and great comments on work turned in. This encouragement has helped me as a student and pointed me in the direction my work should continue to go. I'm grateful for my advisor and teacher as well as the social work program. I believe that I will go into the working world confidently".
Angela Street
“GBC online RN to BSN program was affordable and achievable while I managed to work full-time and raise a family. The professors were great and the whole experience was wonderful!”
Danielle Widmer in Elko
"This is a well structured and streamlined program. I was apprehensive about going back to school, but the program empowered me to learn with an open mind and empowered me to work toward my goals. I can tell within the lectures that the instructor helps others realize their potential. This is crucial to productive learning. Whatever reservations I had prior to signing up for classes, the program and support have far exceeded my expectations. I feel very fortunate, as I'm sure others do, to have the opportunity to earn our degrees in an accredited program in such a rural area. You can tell a lot of hard work has been put into student success and bringing the best material possible to teach us".
Natasha Whipple Stout in Hiko
"My name is Natasha Whipple Stout and I am from Hiko, NV, a little town about 100 miles north of Las Vegas. I have 3 children, Mylah (12), Marek (10), and Laynee (7). I have lived in many different places one of which was Logan, Utah where I received my Bachelor degree from Utah State University in Family Life Studies, moved to Australia and finally found myself back in my hometown of Hiko. After a divorce, I found myself wanting to further my education. I attained my substitute teaching license and found my calling in teaching. I was looking for a program that would allow me to use my Bachelor degree as a stepping stone to acquire my teaching license. A friend recommended Great Basin College and this program so I applied and was accepted into the ARL program at Great Basin College.
I am so excited to graduate in May with my Post-Baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education! It has been a demanding two years, but it was worth every second to be able to be where I am today. I have learned so much and am so grateful for the education Great Basin College has provided me. This has been a wonderful journey filled with fantastic professors and an amazing advisor in Mrs. Denise Padilla. Thank you to all who have helped in any way, congratulations to all the other graduates, and good luck to all this semester!"
Jessica Grannis
“The Great Basin College RN-BSN program has provided me with the necessary education to improve my nursing skills and abilities. This program has been a wonderful experience, and all of the professors are extremely knowledgeable and have had an impact on my personal and professional life. All the professors have been caring and have been supportive of my journey to obtain my BSN degree. I would highly suggest the GBC RN-BSN program to any nurse looking to pursue a BSN degree."
Kelcey Blanc
“I graduated with my Associate of Science in Nursing from Great Basin College in May 2019. I am currently working on my Bachelor's of Nursing degree at GBC with an expected graduation date of Spring 2021. There is no doubt that nursing school is challenging. However, the nursing program at GBC made it manageable, affordable, and prepared me to step into a new graduate nursing role in a rural Emergency Department. The instructors are knowledgeable, dedicated, and overall passionate about nursing. My decision to enroll in the GBC nursing program was one of the best decisions I ever made.”
Bianca Garcia-Hernandez
“Great Basin Colleges RN-BSN program was a great choice for continuing my education. There are several different enrollment options to choose from, including an accelerated track. I was able to earn my degree in four semesters and it was inexpensive. Great Basin has remarkable nursing instructors and counselors who motivated me along the way.
I would recommend this program to other nurses in pursue of advancing their education.”
Blanca Barahona in Pahrump
"What makes the program great is that it gives the students a support system that we need in order to understand who and what a social worker should be.
Meeting with the other students and coming up with a plan is the best way that I've seen to plan for success. I look forward to being able to interact in the field and get real life experience".
Logan Murphy from Lovelock
"I like that the program joined UNR and allows me to transfer credits easily. I enjoy all my classes.
The professors are truly giving it their all when addressing the topics. I really enjoy GBC and how everything comes together".
