Program Overview
The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Office Technology prepares students to be fluent in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; use basic programming commands and understand bookkeeping and accounting principles; and have confidence in their ability to run an office.
The assosciate degree is designed for students intending to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a traditional liberal arts education. The program is typically two years of study in general education, and prepares students for bachelor's programs in fields including Art, English, Business, and History. Students can complete two years of study toward a bachelor’s degree and satisfy the requirements summary for an associate degree. Program Mission
The Computer Technologies Department compliments the Great Basin College mission by delivering computer technology education to a diverse, far-flung, and dynamic population. One of the hallmarks of the department is its ability to respond to the current and future needs of the community. The Computer Technologies Department offers initial training and retraining, job enhancement opportunities, and national certifications in a variety of office technologies.
With a strong faculty and commitment to higher learning, GBC has always provided solid liberal arts coursework for its students. Students who pursue the Associate of Arts degree will gain valuable experience in reading, writing, and thinking. They will be asked to analyze, experience, and evaluate. They will learn much about themselves in the process. They will find GBC offers sophisticated and challenging liberal arts courses, taught in a cordial atmosphere by faculty dedicated to teaching.
