About the Program


Associate of Applied Science — Computer Technologies, Web Development Emphasis


The Computer Technologies Department compliments the Great Basin College mission statement by delivering computer technology education to a diverse, far-flung, and dynamic population. One of the hallmarks of the department is its ability to respond to the current and future needs of the community. The Computer Technologies Department offers initial training and retraining, job enhancement opportunities, and national certifications in a variety of office technologies.


You can earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Web Development. Recipients of this degree will develop web applications using HTML, JavaScript, and Dream Weaver elements. Development of web-based storefronts and shopping carts is also included. Students will maintain Internet servers and databases as well as design graphical page elements including illustrations and animation.

Graduates of this degree program will have the knowledge and skills to:



  • Efficiently and ethically use computers and relevant software in the workplace.

  • Effectively use a computer operating system.

  • Build and maintain well-designed, interactive web pages and sites.

  • Build and maintain databases and gather user information.

  • Seek entry-level employment in the field of web development.

  • Apply for admission to the Bachelor of Applied Science in Digital Information Technology.
