The Nevada Board of Regents has begun the search for a new President of Great Basin College. GBC, an innovator in distance education technologies, provides higher education to nearly all of rural Nevada (86,500 square miles). GBC's main campus is located in Elko, Nevada, with centers located in Pahrump, Winnemucca, Ely, and Battle Mountain, Nevada.

Presidential searches in the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) are conducted by a search committee consisting of regents and advisory members. Agendas for meetings of the Regents' Search Committee are posted on the Board of Regents' website.

NOW – April 2, 2017: Advertising and Recruitment Efforts. April 2 is the soft deadline for receipt of all requested application materials of interested persons. To be guaranteed full consideration, applications should be received by this date. The search firm is involved in the ongoing evaluation of the backgrounds of those who express an interest in the position.

April 24 and 25: Final candidate Interviews on Campus. Candidates visit Great Basin College (GBC) and participate in a variety of activities, meet with constituent groups on campus including internal and external stakeholder groups and public forums. The Board of Regents' ad hoc GBC President Search Committee and the advisory members will meet on April 26 to interview the selected final candidates and possibly make a recommendation to the full Board of Regents. Nevada's Open Meeting Law applies to some of the meetings on Campus and to the President Search Committee meeting.
