About the Program

Associate of Arts in Agriculture Education

The Agriculture Education pattern is designed for students planning to enter a four year program for agriculture education. It prepares students with the course work necessary for application to the Great Basin College Bachelor’s of Secondary Education degree with the agriculture endorsement. With careful selection of agriculture courses taken, the pattern of study prepares students for transfer to other institutions offering agriculture education bachelor’s degrees. To best prepare for transfer of this degree to a bachelor’s program, students should first visit with the agriculture faculty advisor at GBC and create a course schedule in coordination with the catalog requirements of the college into which the student wishes to transfer

Upon completion of the pattern of study (and appropriate exams), students will earn an AA degree and have the ability to:

  • Apply to the GBC Bachelor’s of Secondary Education — Agriculture Endorsement

  • Transfer to a four-year program in agriculture education

  • Effectively communicate basic agriculture science principles

  • Appreciate the complex relationships between the environment, the social aspect, and the science behind modern agricultural practices
