Government Documents Policy
Collection Development PolicyThis library will collect Federal Documents to meet the obligations of a federal depository as specified by Title 44, US Code and to support the following functions and other community and institutional needs.
Materials will be collected in a variety of formats, i.e., print, electronic, maps and microfiche. Many documents will only be online with links in the catalog. Some documents will be substituted with online versions when they are not used very often or there are space restrictions.
The federal documents are delivered free from the Government Printing Office (GPO), but budget constraints will influence selection to the extent that staffing, equipment, and space are necessary to maintain and support the collection.
Checkout PolicyThe general policy of this library is to make all government information as available as possible. We encourage patrons to make copies of any of the government information that we have. However, all the government documents may be checked out except for the microfiche which needs to be viewed on the microfiche machine. We do reserve the right to treat some items as reference materials and make them non-circulating.
We will loan documents to other institutions. We also do interlibrary loans for our students and community patrons from the UNR Business and Government Information Center. Government Documents are available to everyone and not just GBC students.
